A home away from home

Colin, Peter, Barbara, George, Jack or Janet could have lived down the street. George Kirrin, Julian, Anne and Dick could have been our neighbours too. It felt as if we had stepped out of the 21st century into a different era.

The children made themselves at home where we, the Heng children, have always felt most at ease, the library which was situated in the large drawing room of the manor. (A drawing room is a room in which the guests are hosted.) This is where the children spent most of their time in this three hundred-year-old manor.
